Individuals enrolled in the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS)
can receive the services offered through Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRA).

Services offered to IRA individuals are augmented by the providers selected by the individuals or their client’s advocate. The contracting of these outside services, as well as a client assessment, are completed prior to admittance to LAC.

An IRA is a type of residence that provides room and board along with individualized service options, one being Community Habilitation. Supervised IRAs provide 24-hour staff support for residents, whereas Supportive IRAs provide need-based supports and services for those who live at home and do not require 24-hour staff support and supervision.

Residences are located in Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Manhattan.
